First of all, we are passionate about architecture and design. So, how about staying at home, safely, marathoning a few sets? To help you be entertained and, why not, acquire knowledge during your home office or isolation days, we’ve listed seven series about architecture, design and decoration that go beyond the classic “Brothers to the Work”.
“Arquitetos Brasileiros”
As the name suggests, each episode of the series presents the profile of a prestigious Brazilian architect, dealing with his production, history and creative process. Issues such as innovation, materials, function and design are not left out. Available on Amazon Prime, the first season features 13 episodes and names such as Ruy Ohtake, Marcio Kogan and Índio da Costa.
“The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes”
In the British production, architect Piers Taylor and actress Caroline Quentin make the dream of many architecture lovers come true: traveling the world to discover homes beyond extraordinary, whether on the mountains, coast or underground, in India, Spain, United States or Israel. There are twelve episodes, distributed in two seasons (the second being divided into two parts, A and B). Available on Netflix.
“The Great Interior Design Challenge”
Also British, the BBC’s reallity presents an annual interior design competition that aims to find “the best” professionals in Great Britain. The second and third seasons are available on Netflix, totaling 32 episodes.
“Amazing Interiors”
You don’t judge a book by its cover, nor a house by its facade. This is what the series proves when presenting homes that use the eccentricity and personality of their residents to become true “surprise boxes”, including “decoration” items ranging from roller coasters in the backyard to large aquariums . 12 episodes are available in Season 1 on Netflix.
“Grand Designs”
In what can be considered as the maximum of “Do it yourself”, the reality shows the story of people who build their own houses. The presenter Kevin McCloud follows the steps of these ambitious projects to convey the challenges and successes of these endeavors. Two seasons (10 and 15) and 17 episodes are available on Netflix.
“Abstract: the Art of Design”
The series, originally from Netflix, tells the story of eight professionals who work in different areas of design: illustration, photography, architecture and interiors. In each of the 14 episodes, professionals present their way of thinking and talk about how they face the profession, which includes inspiring images. Two seasons are available on the streaming service.
“ARQ.DOC”
Conceived for YouTube and directed by conceptual video producer Augusto Custodio, the documentary series presents the subjective paths from the architectural creative process and from drawing to the realization of projects. Four episodes are available, plus the making of.”
